Each country is unique and proud of its national identity – despite the region being influenced and shaped by its northern neighbour in times of peace and war – and you’ll get to discover their true cultural heritage, ancient and more recent history, and mouth-watering food.
Your journey begins in Baku, the capital city of Azerbaijan, where you’ll understand how it evolved from its ancient beginnings to its current powerful oil-rich geopolitical status. You’ll discover its Soviet heritage, which is slowly disappearing, and hear stories of the recent clashes from another prospective.
The Georgians are renowned for their incredible hospitality, which you’ll experience as your adventure continues to Tbilisi. Our road trips will take you through the beautiful mountainous regions along the Georgian Military Highway, visiting forgotten Soviet monuments, monasteries, and other UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Despite the painful memories of Stalin’s purges, you’ll visit the Man of Steel’s birth house and museum where the local population regard him as a national figure.
You’ll continue onwards to Armenia, hearing stories of injustices of the Armenian Genocide. After the collapse of the Soviet Union, complex ethnic division intensified, causing recent wars between the neighbouring countries.
This is the time to visit, a region with a turbulent past and uncertain future.
